my mission

Heidi Widoff has made it her mission to increase the awareness of orofacial and myofunctional disorders, their health impacts, and bring actionable strategies to her patients by administering effective and holistic treatments to establish proper facial health care and give her clients the peace of mind they deserve.

Her ultimate goal is to train Massage Therapist and COMs on her unique program and advancing the practice clinical oral facial massage, allowing them to deliver the same high level of standards and quality care she delivers through her certified techniques.

Caring for Others

Before she began her career in Orofacial Myology Therapy (OMT), Heidi specialized as a registered dental hygienist caring for patients and providing optimum oral health.

Because of her years of direct patient services, she came to recognize the need for patients to have advanced options in oral facial health care. Non-invasive options that could create improved healing, allow patients to recover more quickly if surgery was required, and to achieve effective, long-lasting results.

Philosophy

Heidi focuses on the philosophy that oral health is deeply connected to our general health, and the conditions within our mouths can signal more serious issues within our bodies.

She developed her techniques and exercises designed to increase tonal balance and muscle formation which can lead to less dependency on CPAP equipment, reduction of snoring and relieve some symptoms of ADD/ADHD and other effects of myofunctional disorders, such as proper tongue placement for speech impediments and problems with chewing and swallowing.

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) involve habits and patterns created by incorrect development of muscle function involving the tongue, lips, jaw, and face. Our Myofunctional Therapy addresses three main OMDs:  Improving lip closure for nasal breathing (which can  help reduce snoring and sleep apnea); encouraging proper tongue posture for healthy facial development and clearer speech; and promoting proper chewing and swallowing for better digestion.

Heidi brings years of expertise and in-depth knowledge of patient’s facial anatomy and physiology allowing her to provide premium oral facial myofunctional disorder assessments and evaluations. Her expertise comes from her discipline in the studies of Dental Hygiene, continuing education and various certification through hours of courses and seminars with leading organizations including American Academy of Physiological Medicine and DentistryInternational Association of Orofacial Myology and Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, American Massage Therapy Association, and Craniosacral Therapy at Upledger Institute.

Mentored by Joy Moeller, BS, RDH, a renowned figure in Myofunctional Therapy education and a board member of AAPMD, Heidi has developed the intuitive knack for recognizing OMDs that led her to develop proprietary techniques created to promote tongue posture, improved breathing, chewing and swallowing.

Heidi not only leads breakthrough therapies for oral health through her multidisciplinary approach to restorative breathing and massage techniques, but she has spoken at major conferences and symposiums including California Dental Hygiene Association, AAMPD International Clinical Symposium in Chicago and the American Laser Study Club.

Experience first hand the difference of Heidi’s unique approach can make in your life.
